- Jim Joyce, before he became a household name in baseball. Of course, after he became slightly more famous last week, he and Armando Galarraga handled themselves with aplomb. Will Leitch said the incident brought out the best in everyone except us fans. Obviously he wasn’t thinking of Joe Posnanski, who addressed the situation with typical perspective. Ben Greenman thought the best lessons of the Joycean drama came, fittingly, from Ulysses.
- Speaking of writers (well, kind of), the New Yorker published its list of the top 20 writers under 40. Jonathan Safran Foer was included.
- Safran Foer is one of the many topics discussed in this very interesting Slate interview with Anthony Bourdain. Moral relativism, objectivity in food (which has some bearing on John and Josh’s past Symposium), and fatherhood are also discussed.
