What we read while surviving Hurricane Earl…

• The New York Times managed to write about “Fuck You” by Cee Lo Green without ever actually using the phrase. It was a feat both mocked and praised by the less refined media. Meanwhile, Green himself released the official video for the crudely named song, to replace the text-only viral hit. (Remember Cee Lo, no one’s gonna love you more than we do.)

• The NYT Magazine tries to capture our generation. Our response? Meh.

• We’d have already bought a few of these literary posters if not for their strict “Canadian currency only” policy.

• “Just a small town girl…“

• The first TV writer who jumped the shark insists that jumping the shark was a good idea.

• Another reason to love McDonald’s.

• We don’t know about you, but we don’t care if driving slower alleviates traffic. We’re going fast anyway.

Ranking Bob Dylan Songs, #116: Freight Train Blues

There’s a scene in I’m Not There in which the character known as Woody, played by Marcus Carl Franklin and designed to embody the youthful, mythical Bob Dylan, hops onto a train with nothing but a guitar case labeled “This Machine Kills Fascists.” Once there, though, Woody finds himself confronted by unsavory characters who are generally unsympathetic to Woody’s romantic notions of life on the run. Scared, Woody briefly abandons his life on the run for life as an imposter with a middle-class family.
