John Winthrop’s audaciously declared goal for the Massachusetts Bay Colony established the American standards of setting lofty aspirations and spelling words arbitrarily.

The Puritans have spent the rest of their time in America making sure those lofty aspirations precluded us from ever having any fun.

Manufacturing Want

I don’t know if anyone has heard about Colgate Wisp, but it’s all the rage now (actually, I just heard of it about fifteen minutes ago, I have no evidence that anyone even owns one).
