Goners: Troy, Quinnipiac, Memphis, Arizona State, Mississippi, Jackson State, Kent State

Last Five In: Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, California, Utah State, Minnesota

Last Five Out: Mississippi State, Illinois, Florida, Seton Hall, Rhode Island

  • It came down to Mississippi State, Minnesota, Illinois, and Florida for the last spot and, more specifically, Minnesota and Mississippi State. Despite what happened today, I’m going with the Golden Gophers, who simply beat more good teams than the Bulldogs. Minnesota has five RPI top 50 wins as opposed to MSU’s two. The Golden Gophers have played a tougher schedule and should sneak in. Of course, if it were up to me, we’d cut the 65th team and be back down to 64 like we should, and I’d feel more confident I have them all. It wouldn’t stun me if Utah State or Virginia Tech was kept out, but I would be disappointed if they were.
  • Purdue’s horrific performance on Saturday drops them from a 2 to a 3. Georgetown hops back up to a 2 after several down weeks.
  • My Elite Eight from this: Kansas over Richmond, Kentucky over Villanova, Syracuse over Ohio State, West Virginia over Duke
  • Upsets: Siena over Wisconsin and Vanderbilt, Utah State over Michigan State, Richmond over Georgetown, Gonzaga over New Mexico, Northern Iowa over Kansas State, BYU over Purdue
